Frequent Answer Question

Quick Answers to Your Visa Queries

A Canada Job Visa—also known as a work permit—gives foreign nationals the legal right to work in Canada for a specific period of time.
Depending on the type, it can be employer-specific (tied to one employer) or an open work permit (allowing you to work for multiple employers).

To apply for a Canadian work visa, most applicants must first secure a valid job offer
from a Canadian employer. In some cases, a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is also required.
Applications can be submitted online or through a paper-based process, depending on eligibility
and individual circumstances.

Processing times depend on several factors, including your country of residence, the type of work
permit you are applying for, and the completeness of your application. On average, it may take
anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

In many cases, a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is required to demonstrate that hiring
a foreign worker will not negatively impact the Canadian job market. However, certain jobs and
categories are exempt from this requirement, such as specific international agreements,
intra-company transfers, and open work permits.
